In justification for the design, the logo is the initial letters of the Squadron name. The red and white colors are the colors of Illinois State University located in Bloomington. The seven stripes represent the seven counties served by the Squadron and the four blue stripes in chevron design represent the four advanced grades of USPS, always pointing in a forward direction.
